Friant Water & the California Aqueduct
Friant Water Authority is a Federal Agency that manages 192 miles of the California Water Aqueduct. Friant currently uses a network of 130 UIGs to collect SCADA information from all canal turn-outs and is in the process of implementing other IoT sensors to measure Water Quality, Gate Vibrations, Battery health information, etc.
1. Regulated by the California State Water Project / Central Valley Project. 2. Multiple pumping sites that pump water over the check structures. 3. Motor Control: controlling pumps remotely & verifying performance. 4. Monitoring temperature of the pump as well as the fuel sensor. 5. GPS location for asset tracking. 6. Some places are permanent, whereas others are mobile pump stations. 7. Geo-Fence the Block House & the Bridge. 8. Water Quality Monitoring requirements.
